How It All
Came to the Table
Named after my little kitchen helpers, Briar and Millie, Bramble Mill began in the quiet hum of our kitchen. My girls are always there beside me, mixing batter and magic, reminding me that the heart of every meal is in the hands that help make it.
This digital journal is, in so many ways, a love letter to them. To the little hands that help stir and sprinkle, to the laughter that fills the kitchen, and to the wonder they bring into every meal; to Riley, our oldest, who’d rather be anywhere but the kitchen, yet always shows up when it counts with his honest taste-testing and that easy, soulful spark; and to my husband, whose quiet support makes room for every bit of this chaos and joy. It’s a love letter to the meals that bring us together, the small rituals that anchor us, and the everyday magic.
What began as a quiet craving for beauty and slowness has become something much more. After nearly a decade spent in the design world, shaping brands, refining visuals, and telling other people’s stories, Bramble Mill is where I come home to my own. Food has always been my creative escape: tactile, intuitive, and entirely my own. It’s where I can shape with my hands what I feel in my heart, then share it as a kind of love language with my kids, my husband, and now, with you. This isn’t just a food journal. It’s a reflection of our life: messy, warm, full of texture, and made with so much care.

Just Me, My Girls, and a Whole Lot of Butter
I’m Courtney Null, founder of Bramble Mill, recipe developer, and creative.
My love for food didn’t come from childhood kitchens or handed-down recipes. It began in my early twenties, when I was in school, broke, and figuring out who I was and how to feed myself. I’d never really been taught to cook, but I found joy in stretching what little I had, meal planning, experimenting, and discovering how ingredients could be transformed with a little creativity.
That spark grew into something deeper when I met my husband and son. At first, cooking was a love language, a way to impress. But soon it became an obsession: my cabinets filled with cookbooks, and I spent hours rotating, testing, and refining recipes for my growing family. My curiosity spilled into new techniques I never thought my messy brain could master, and I discovered my true passion for recipe development.
And now, the heart of it has shifted again. These days most of my stirring, shaping, and tasting happens with my girls beside me. They climb onto stools, sprinkle flour where it does or doesn’t belong, and remind me that the real magic isn’t just in the food. It’s in the moments we make while making it. Bramble Mill is our shared little world, where creativity meets chaos, and where my love for cooking has become something I get to pass down, one messy, beautiful memory at a time.
